Gentle grace
Dear Little Belle,
If I were with you this very day, I’d tell you how you brighten so many of my gloomy days. Who can be sad when looking at your smiling face? Who can be afraid or give up on what life has in store after reading the story of how much you suffered through without ever losing your zest for life. Even blindness has not stopped your indomitable spirit from shining like a lighthouse beacon for all to see, and your gentle grace guides us on a path that leads to serenity. A place where all are accepted and loved and the differently abled are not cast aside as “less than”. For we are all beings with feelings, no one more important than the other, and it is truly that spirit of acceptance and love that you embody and reflect back to the entire world. As for a favorite picture, there is no way to pick just one. I tend to favor those of you sharing your life and home with your brothers and sisters and Mom and Dad. Inclusion and acceptance, no one left out or left behind. But I also love those pictures of you standing alone on a dune, head raised high, scenting the air in lively anticipation of a day of utter joy and fun, not caring one bit of what anyone else thinks a tiny, “blind” dog should be restricted to. You know NO such restrictions, you live each day to the fullest and you teach us that in doing so, we live a life worth having. A life where sharing even something as simple as a smile can indeed have a positive impact on the entire world. Thank you for showing us all how to have a meaningful life my darling. Thank you from the top, middle and bottom of my ❤.
